Abstract

The aim of the study was to determine the strength single-lap adhesive joints made of 1.4310 acid resistant steel sheets with a thickness of 1 mm. The surface samples before the bonding process has been prepared by machining using sandpaper P320 and P800 to obtain different surface roughness. After machining, the surfaces were degreased Loctite 7063 degreasing agent. The reference adhesive joints were prepared and the adherends surfaces were only degreasing. Before the bonding process, the measurements of selected parameters of surface roughness were performed. Two kinds of two-component epoxy adhesives: Epidian 62/IDA/100:40 and Epidian 62/TFF/100:27 were used to prepare bonded joints. The curing process in one stage in the cold at a temperature of 23°C to 20°C, and relative humidity of from 30% to 33% for 7 days was carried out. Shear strength tests of bonded joints were performed in accordance with standard DIN EN 1465 standard. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the results, it was found that Epidian 62/IDA/100:40 adhesive and mechanical treatment with P800 sandpaper and degreasing is recommended to prepare adhesive joints of 1.4310 acid resistant steel sheets.
